Microarray archive
This page is for molbiol account holders who would like to archive their microarray data.
Introduction
The CBRG provide an archive to store microarray related data to molbiol account holders. This is a simple way of making sure you have a permanent copy of your data that in addition is accessible to you (and collaborators if desired)
from your molbiol account. For two channel array data we advise using the BASE database if possible.
Register to use the archive
The first step is to email genmail@molbiol.ox.ac.uk with a list of
categories you wish to use.
We currently have a selection of categories that we recommend storing your data under. These are:
- Transcription
- ChIP_on_Chip
- CGH
- Misc
If you have any other categories you would like to add for consideration please include these in the email.
We will then send you an email confirming that we have set the archive up for you. In your molbiol account there will now be two new directories created:
- my_temp_arraydata
- my_arraydata
my_temp_arraydata will contain directories of the categories you emailed to us. So for example if you emailed Trancription and CGH you will see these two directories under my_temp_arraydata.
Copy your data onto molbiol
(Here we assume you are on a Windows PC though and are using the recommended SSH client. If you are Mac user you may be using Fugu - the process is the same but the graphical interface is different)
Open up the SFTP tool and go browse the data (e.g CEL or DAT files) and drag these across the files to the relevant
folder of choice in my_temp_arraydata.
Here is an example in which we wish to put the all files in the Transcription folder to be archived.
- Select files and folders...
- Open the Transcription directory
- Drag the files across to your molbiol account into the Transcription directory.
These files will now automatically be moved from this folder into the archive within a few hours.
Confimation of this will be that you will see the files in the my_arraydata folder and the files under
my_temp_arraydata will be removed.
Accessing your data
These files are now permanently stored and accessible in the my_arraydata directory in your home directory.
